Preface :

In the Bible, the term ambassador refers to a high-ranking representative or envoy sent by a sovereign authority to act on their behalf in a foreign land.

While it has a literal diplomatic meaning in the Old Testament, it takes on a profound spiritual and metaphorical meaning in the New Testament.

Old Testament:

 Diplomatic Envoys

In the Old Testament, ambassadors were official messengers sent by kings or leaders to handle international relations.

Their roles included:

Negotiation:

Establishing treaties, contracting alliances, or requesting passage through another’s land (e.g., Moses to the king of Edom in Numbers 20:14).

Diplomacy:

 Delivering messages of condolence, congratulation, or remonstrance for wrongs done.

Status & Protection:

An ambassador carried the full authority of the king who sent them; therefore, an insult to an ambassador was considered a direct insult to the king himself

(2 Samuel 10:2-5).

Tsiyr: “One who goes on an errand”

(Proverbs 13:17).

The primary text is 2 Corinthians 5:20:

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us”.

பரலோக குடியிருப்பு..

Character as Credentials:

பரலோக தன்மையை பூமியில் காண்பித்தல்..

An ambassador’s lifestyle must reflect the values and character of their home kingdom.

In Ephesians 6:20, the Apostle Paul calls himself an “ambassador in chains,” showing that the duty continues even under hardship or persecution.

கூடாதென்று கண்டால், மற்றவன் இன்னும் தூரத்திலிருக்கும்போதே, ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி, சமாதானத்துக்கானவைகளைக் கேட்டுக்கொள்வானே.
